I have a solution to this. I will grant anyone who is looking to have a print of either the male or female Shepard a copy of the file for which you can get it printed yourself. This will cost you nothing but your word to not duplicate, alter, share, or sell the file or the printed artwork. I don’t drink because I’ve never really been curious enough about it I guess. My family considers this strange because they’re Irish, but I’m cool with being the black sheep.

Tuesday Tunes: “Clarity” - Zedd

I found this song by looking through Vimeo’s music videos, and I’ve got to say Zedd is one of my new favorites. The music makes me move and I like the lyrics a lot, two of the three prerequisites I have for adding any musicians to my music library. This track in particular has some meaningful lyrics such as:

You are the piece of me
I wish I didn’t need

Still fight and I don’t know why

And then the chorus:

My life has taken so many turns as of late that it doesn’t resemble what it was merely a year ago. Sometimes I think too much about it, waiting for the house of cards to fall. Then I realize it’s not worth my time to let those thoughts in. Instead, I crank some music, dance, and with any luck, go back to being awesome.

Unfortunately, EA felt that I was violating some sort of copyright or trademarking so they removed them (only the reaped ones for some reason). So, I hope to find a way to get in their good graces, strike a deal, and be able to have them printed again.

My Companions

I’ve come to realize why I love Doctor Who so much. At one point in time, I wrote a post for 1amgeek about why I like Doctor Who, but recently I discovered why I love it: the moments when his companions leave.

While the Doctor has spent much of his time traveling the universe with a companion or two in the past few years, there are still those times when he is traveling alone. He doesn’t want to, but they leave for one reason or another. As he said at the end of “Journey’s End”, “They’ve all got someone else. Still, that’s fine. I’m fine.” Of course, he’s not really fine, since that’s Time Lord code for the exact opposite. Still, he knows it’s coming at one time or another, just like me.

The eleventh Doctor mentions off and on to Amy that while he’s been alone, he finds himself coming back to her and Rory because he doesn’t want them to fade from him. I’ve come to realize I know the feeling. As I grow older, my friends get into long term relationships, they get married, they have people. I haven’t been so lucky. And while that has gotten me down many times, it’s not the end of the world.

People leave, just like the Doctor’s companions, they depart at some point. Perhaps not permanently, but in one way or another the nature of the relationship changes. My friends won’t always be around. As they have already begun to do, they’ve found people, and they go away. This might have gotten me sad in the past, but I’ve realized, thanks to the Doctor, to cherish the time I have with them, my companions. When my part in their stories is done, they’ll go off and have their own adventures, and I’ll keep traveling the universe as I have been all these years.

Those moments I have with them need to be just that, moments. They’re episodes of my life that I’ll relive in my memory when I need to remember them. But they’re never forgotten, and I’ll carry them with me always, just like the Doctor carries all of his companions with him. I won’t let them fade from me.

There are people out there who are afraid of being abandoned, being left alone, having people leave them. I was one of them at one point. And of course, seeing people go doesn’t help that, but the Doctor has helped me. I’m not afraid of my friends leaving anymore, because I know they will, and I know they are going off to have their own adventures. They are going off to be happier, and I don’t want to stand in the way of that. I’ll keep their memories close, and I’ll keep traveling space and time.

“Space can be very lonely. The greatest adventure is having someone share it with you.” I have shared it with many people over the years. My adventure continues, and I hope to find someone to share it with to make it amazing.
